About the SHow

BRIDGING the divide

Slim (white guy) and Smooth (black guy) are two regular dudes in the Philadelphia area who have been great friends for almost a decade. As you will find out if you ever decide to listen to the show, we are not professional comedians in any capacity. We don’t write material or overly prepare for our episodes. This is by design. Ask A Black Guy is meant to be a raw conversation between two friends who bust each other’s balls incessantly. We found out quickly that nothing offended us, and the narrative always landed on race at some point in a conversation, usually with a punchline at the end. That is because we are, as most people will admit, fascinated with racial and cultural differences. However, in American culture, race is such a hot button issue, that people tend to shy away from asking questions and discussing these topics. Moreover, what most people really lack is the close, interracial friendships, which afford us, Slim and Smooth, the ability to talk about ANYTHING and ultimately learn a lot about our respective races and cultures through humorous conversation. We believe that the key to overcoming racial divisiveness is discussing and learning about our differences, particular when it makes us uncomfortable. This is how Ask A Black Guy was born - Smooth’s white friends asking him to educate them about black culture. Whenever a question or scenario played out in real life concerning black culture or a stereotype, Smooth was hit up about it immediately. Not that he speaks for every black guy, but if he is your only black friend, where else do you turn to get these answers?

ASK A BLACK GUY!

The show is here for you! Ask questions and learn about race or cultural differences. Are you Black, White, Asian, Hispanic…who cares?! If you have always had a question about White culture, Black culture, Asian culture, Hispanic culture, etc… we will tackle it head on. If we can’t answer it, we will bring in a racial expert representing another race and form a quorum to talk it out.

We aren’t experts in any field. This isn’t a college class on culture. Slim and Smooth are just two guys who are trying to make it easy for people to have an open dialogue about racial differences in America.

What have you been afraid to ask?
